June - August (Before Junior Year)
- [ ] Finalize your balanced (3 Likely, 3 Target, 3 Stretch, 3 Far Stretch) list of 8-12 colleges that you will be applying to.
- [ ] Complete summer homework and prep for classes you may find challenging in the Fall
- [ ] Outine and write your “ugly” first draft of your college application personal essay, then revise and repeat until you get to your final draft
- [ ] Create and fill in your Common Application account at CommonApp.org. The Common Application open August 1st.
- [ ] Continue participating in meaningful activities, volunteer, and/or work
- [ ] Brainstorm and draft your supplemental essays
- [ ] Provide any outstanding recommenders with anything they may need to write you a strong and detailed letter of recommendation - including updates from your summer
- [ ] Take your SAT/ACT if you need to
- [ ] Fill out Self-Reported Academic Record (SRAR) for the colleges that require it
September - October
- [ ] Send out your official test scores from CollegeBoard (SAT) and/or ACT to your colleges (check their sites to see who requires it)
- [ ] Prepare and submit applications that are Rolling, Early Action and/or Early Decision
- [ ] Ensure your transcript is accurate and request official copies to be sent to your colleges
- [ ] Take final SAT or ACT if needed
- [ ] Sign up and prep for college interviews (if they are offered)
- [ ] Register for AP tests you plan to take in May
- [ ] Apply for financial aid (FAFSA and CSS Profile) and scholarships
November - December
- [ ] Finish up and submit regular decision applications
