Junior Year (11th Grade)

[ ] Research and refine your college list based on personal, academic, and professional interests
[ ] Explore your academic interests through summer classes on Coursera or EdX for subjects you’re interested in, but are not offered at your school
[ ] Complete summer homework and prep for classes you may find challenging in the Fall
[ ] Catch up on current events, especially related to your future major
[ ] Update your resume with all of your activities - include leadership positions, your impact, and time you spend on the activity. Check out our Resume Template.
[ ] Visit some local college campuses to narrow down your college list. Sign up using the same email address you will use for college applications

Tip: Create a new email address just for college activities. Ex: First Name. Last [email protected]
[ ] Take practice SAT and ACT to prepare for future exams

[ ] Evaluate whether there are any other classes you need to change before the Add/Drop Deadline (date in which you need to change your classes by - otherwise they show up as a W on your transcript. You’ll want to explain any grades lower than a B and Withdrawals too)
[ ] Reflect on your classes and identify which ones you are doing well in and which ones you need help with
[ ] Register for AP tests that match the classes you are taking this year (if applicable)
[ ] Register for and take the PSAT
[ ] Participate in your classes - ask questions, speak up in discussions, go to extra-help sessions especially for the teachers you would like to write your letters of recommendation for college
[ ] Continue engaging in activities, volunteer, take on more responsibilities
[ ] Continue researching and refining your college list
[ ] Register and take the PSAT for National Merit Scholarship
[ ] Register for SAT/ACT tests you plan on taking
